God Heard Their Groaning

The purposes of this prayer are: Protection, Justice and Perseverance.

Gracious God, you are sovereign over all creation, and you act when you deem appropriate. Almost four hundred years had passed since Jacob and the tribes of Israel migrated to Egypt to avoid famine when Moses fled from Pharaoh to the desert. There he encountered a woman at a well who would soon become his wife. Moses began to work for his wife’s father, tending his flocks of sheep, and then much later, “Years passed, and the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God. God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act.” Exodus 2:23–25 (NLT). Lord, we know your timing is always perfect. Please give us the grace to persevere through our trials and suffering. Help us to maintain our faith in Jesus while we endure our tribulations. Amen.
