Honor Your Father and Your Mother

The purposes of this prayer are: Obedience and Guidance/Purpose.

Lord Almighty, your ten commandments are the source for the Christian ethics by which we live our lives. The last six commandments pertain to inter-personal relations: “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” Exodus 20:12–17 (NASB). Lord, we could never claim that the wisdom found in the Old Testament is not relevant to modern life. Your commandments are relevant yesterday and today and forever. Amen.
