121 Days of Prayer
The purposes of this prayer are: Illumination, Salvation and Intercession.
Omnipotent God, your prophet Zechariah prophesied the coming of the Messiah, Jesus, and that he would fulfill the roles of both Davidic king and high priest: “Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Here is the man called the Branch. He will branch out from where he is and build the temple of the Lord. Yes, he will build the temple of the Lord. Then he will receive royal honor and will rule as king from his throne. He will also serve as priest from his throne, and there will be perfect harmony between his two roles.’” Zechariah 6:12–13 (NLT). The author of Hebrews compared Jesus to Melchizedek, the king of Salem, with whom Abraham had an interaction and who was a priest of the God Most High. Not only is Jesus our Lord, but he is also our high priest who lives eternally to make intercessory prayers before you, Father, on our behalf. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
