121 Days of Prayer

I Did Not Come to Bring Peace, But a Sword

The purposes of this prayer are: Holiness/Righteousness, Perseverance and Fortitude.

Omnipotent God, a Christian’s faith must never be lukewarm, but firmly decided, rock-solid and red-hot. Jesus told his disciples, “Everyone who will acknowledge me before others, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever denies me before others, I will also deny him before my Father in heaven. Don’t assume that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.” Matthew 10:32–36 (CSB). Gracious Lord, to be able to withstand the tribulations and temptations of this world, a Christian must be firmly grounded in his trust in his Savior, Jesus. Ground our faith in your Son, we pray, Heavenly Father, to our last breath. We ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
