121 Days of Prayer
The Lord Knows Our Thought
The purposes of this prayer are: Justice and Gratitude.
Holy God, the wise man knows not only that you impart discipline on those you love, but he is also gladdened because he also knows that that proves you will never abandon your people: “He who disciplines the nations, he who teaches knowledge to humankind, does he not chastise? The Lord knows our thoughts, that they are but an empty breath. Happy are those whom you discipline, O Lord, and whom you teach out of your law, giving them respite from days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked. For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage; for justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.” Psalm 94:10–15 (NRSV). Lord, it is not pleasant for us to endure discipline, but we are grateful that you love us enough to correct us and not just abandon us to our iniquities. Thank you, Father. Amen.
