And Many Other Signs Truly Did Jesus in the Presence of His Disciples

The purposes of this prayer are: Increased Faith, Obedience and Confidence/Hope.

Holy Lord, after Jesus proved to Thomas that it really was him and he really was resurrected by having Thomas place his finger in his pierced side, only then did Thomas acknowledge that he was Jesus, his Lord and Savior. After Jesus addressed Thomas’ lack of faith, John the apostle explicitly summarized the purpose of his gospel: “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou has believed; blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. But these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life through his name.” John 20:29–31 (KJV). Lord, this is the essence of every Christian’s faith: Christ died a sacrificial death on a cross in the place of all who place their faith in his great act of salvation. Jesus, and only Jesus, is where our hope for eternal salvation resides. Amen.
