121 Days of Prayer

What Can We Bring to the Lord?

The purposes of this prayer are: Holiness/Righteousness, Mercy and Humility.

God in Heaven, after prophesying of your coming judgement against Israel and Judah, Micah foretold the restoration of a remnant of the Israelites from exile. And then Micah asked the Israelites rhetorically how they could repay you for all their transgressions against you: “What can we bring to the Lord? Should we bring him burnt offerings? Should we bow before God Most High with offerings of yearling calves? Should we offer him thousands of rams and ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Should we sacrifice our firstborn children to pay for our sins? No, O People, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:6–8 (NLT). Lord, as Christ’s faithful followers, we must continue to strive to always do what is right, to always be merciful, and to always worship you with humility and awe. Help us to walk in the path of righteousness. Amen.
