The purposes of this prayer are: Perseverance, Salvation and Illumination.

Holy God, in a vision of an angel in heaven where the angel related to John the punishment that awaits anyone who worships the beast, the angel then contrasted their punishment to the blessings that those who maintained their faith in Jesus to the end will receive, saying, “Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, ‘Write, ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them.’” Revelation 14:12–13 (NASB). Heavenly Father, every Christian should anticipate encountering difficult to seemingly impossible trials to overcome. During such occasions is when we must strive to maintain our faith in Jesus with every last ounce of effort that we have, so that, when we pass on from this world, we will receive the blessings of those who die in the Lord. Help us to persevere to our last breath, Lord. We ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
