121 Days of Prayer

The purposes of this prayer are: Salvation, Mercy and Lovingkindness.

Loving God, in his letter to the Ephesians, Paul emphasized to them how hopelessly and irredeemably lost they were in their sins before they received the eternal salvation made available to them through their faith in Christ: “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:1–5 (NIV). Lord, it is by your great mercy and love for us that we are saved, not because of anything we have done or could do. Paul wrote later in his letter to the Ephesians that even our faith is not something we could have mustered up ourselves but is a gift from you. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for our faith in your Son, Jesus, by which we are saved. Amen.
