121 Days of Prayer

They Did Not Keep God’s Covenant and Refused to Live by His Law

The purposes of this prayer are: Obedience, Glorify God/Worship and Sustenance.

God of Power and Might, Psalm 78 is about the rebelliousness of the Israelites, and their refusal to obey you: “The Ephraim archers turned back on the day of battle. They did not keep God’s covenant and refused to live by his law. They forgot what he had done, the wondrous works he had shown them. He worked wonders in the sight of their ancestors in the land of Egypt, the territory of Zoan. He split the sea and brought them across; the water stood firm like a wall. He led them with a cloud by day and with a fiery light throughout the night. He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink as abundant as the depths. He brought streams out of the stone and made water flow down like rivers. But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High.” Psalm 78:9–17 (CSB). Holy God, we may never fully understand the power of sin in our lives. You led the Israelites to freedom from bondage to the Egyptians through the Red Sea, which you parted for them. You furnished them with manna for food while in the Sinai desert. You gave them an abundance of water from a rock, and yet they still rebelled against you. Gracious Lord, we pray that you eradicate all rebelliousness that we may be harboring against the commandments of Jesus, so that we may quickly and completely obey our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Amen.
