The purposes of this prayer are: Guidance/Purpose, Increased Faith and Lovingkindness.

Compassionate God, soon after the Israelites defeated the Jebusites and took over the city of Jerusalem, David established it as his capital city. You then told David through Nathan your prophet that he and his descendants would reign forever over the land that you had given to the Israelites, saying, “’I declare to you that the Lord will build a house for you: when your days are over and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. I will be his father and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne will be established forever.’ Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation.” 1 Chronicles 17:11–15 (NIV). When you sent the angel Gabriel to Mary to inform her that she would be the mother of the Messiah, he reiterated the promise you had made to David, saying, “You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.” Luke 1:31–33 (NIV). Heavenly Father, Jesus is David’s greater Son, as well as your Son, and now reigns eternally in heaven with you. It is through faith in David’s greater Son that all mankind may reconcile themselves to you and receive your eternal salvation. Amen.
