Stand Firm and Hold to the Traditions That You Were Taught
The purposes of this prayer are: Perseverance, Guidance/Purpose and Confidence/Hope.
Loving God, the book of 2 Thessalonians includes a short prayer of guidance and inspiration to its recipients: “Brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15–17 (ESV). Lord, we pray that Paul’s words are true for us as well. Bless us with eternal comfort, and may our every thought and deed be in conformity to your will. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
