121 Days of Prayer
Publius’ Father Was in Bed Suffering from Fever and Dysentery
The purposes of this prayer are: Healing, Intercession and Friendship/Fellowship.
Omnipotent Lord, during the trip to Rome when Paul was being transported as a prisoner to have his case tried before Caesar, the ship he was placed on was shipwrecked off of the island of Malta during a storm. Everyone on the ship made it to shore safely and was treated well by the inhabitants. They were taken to the leading man on the island, Publius, where they were treated cordially for three days: “Now in the area around that place was an estate belonging to the leading man of the island, named Publius, who welcomed us and entertained us hospitably for three days. Publius’ father was in bed suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went to him, and praying and laying his hands on him, he healed him. After this, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. So they heaped many honors on us, and when we sailed, they gave us what we needed.” Acts 28:7–10 (CSB). Gracious Lord, Paul displayed a perfect example of faith in action. He learned of a need, he met the need, and as a result, a whole multitude of additional needs surfaced and were met. Lord, we pray that you place us where our talents can best be utilized to do the greatest good. We ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
