With Flattering Lips and a Double Heart

The purposes of this prayer are: Guidance/Purpose and Wisdom.

Heavenly Father, help me to be as sincere as possible when I speak to people. The psalmist wrote, “Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that makes great boasts, those who say, ‘With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us, who is master over us?’” Psalm 12:2–4 (ESV). James wrote that the tongue is “a fire, a world of unrighteousness.” James 3:6 (ESV). Lord, help me to control what I say. Fewer words are better than many, and often no words are better than any. Guide me, Lord. Amen.
